TOPIC: Building Solidarity with other Marginalized Groups - what does this mean and how can we do it?

PANEL SPEAKERS:

  • Gabriela Ituarte - a clinical psychologist hailing from Mexico, Gabriela and her family moved to WA to receive a harsh awakening of the racism and marginalization of the latino community here in Kitsap, which led her to become a Cornell-certified DEI professional. With her foundation, the We Are Better Together Foundation, Gabby is deeply committed to more equity and inclusion in local health care and school systems for the latino community.

  • Darryl Riley - Darryl has worked hard to overcome the adversity faced by black males in America and is a thriving entrepreneur and businessman. His organization, the Up From Slavery Initiative, works to fight racial inequality and social injustice, build wealth by planning financial futures, and addresses mental health disparities in the black community.

  • Aiden Moore - Aidan is Chamorro and has seen that many people don’t know a lot about Oceania. Aidan has shared knowledge with friends over the years, expanding their understanding about the Pacific Islands. Aidan is an active member of the Kitsap Palestine Solidarity group and has been actively working with others to bring the fight of the Palestinian people to Kitsap.

  • Madi Williamson - Madi is an activist and registered nurse with a B.S. in Public Health. Through her organization, In-Sight Collaborative, she has worked with migrants in the humanitarian sector for five years and now focuses on promoting better interventions in migratory health. Her organization also works to promote changes in the humanitarian sector by offering a mentorship program for those working in or wanting to work in the humanitarian sector.
